With permission from Krystle Alarcon, a multimedia journalist, we are showing a short film she co-produced called Angel’s Story: Trapped in a Violent World.  It will give us a glimpse into the world a young woman named Angel struggles to survive in on a daily basis. The film is short and may be emotionally difficult for some to view.  We will hear from Angel’s aunt, Bernie Williams, and how she stepped into her leadership, built awareness and what actions she’s taken.  We will see the struggles and hear the strength that has inspired women locally, nationally and internationally.

You are warmly invited to participate in the upcoming Women of Spirit and Faith gathering on Monday evening. Please share this invitation with women you feel may be interested.

Two women of strength and power among us will share their own stories of how they stepped into leadership.  Vivian Seegers will speak of “Idle No More”, which is a movement originating in Canada with First Nations Peoples along with non-Aboriginal supporters.  Kamala Yonzon is the founder of the Kamala Yonzon Tahrayki Foundation and will share with us her dream to bring clean water and a much needed hospital to her original home village in Nepal.

You are warmly invited to set aside the afternoon of Sunday, December 9th, 2012 to work together on a collaborative vision for a women’s spiritual network in our area. We will share our stories and exchange wisdom deeply rooted in a variety of spiritual and religious activities.

Our June circle calls us to engage in deep listening and learning. Fay Blaney will lead us in an exercise on residential schools, and following that, there will be time for discussion.

As usual, we will begin with potluck dinner (6-7 pm) and the circle gathering/discussion follows (7-9:30 pm). If you’re unable to attend the dinner, you are most welcome to arrive for 7:00.

Those of you who are engaging this initiative for the first time are most welcome. For those of you who have participated in any of our three previous “Women, Spirituality and Transformative Leadership” events, this invitation represents another step in a shared adventure.

The InterSpiritual Centre of Vancouver Society presents Protecting Our Sacred Waters, a two-part event examining how political decisions and global economic activities have affected the condition of our rivers and oceans. The daytime symposium is for young adults (16-22) and the evening event is open to the general public. Both sessions will involve evidence-based and respectful discussions about how to protect and restore our sacred waters, a limited and precious resource for life now and for future generations.
